Report: Wolves working solely with Cavs on Love deal
The Denver Nuggets. The Boston Celtics. Golden State Warriors. The Cleveland Cavaliers. At various times during the off-season, four teams - and perhaps others - have been involved in talks to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love. This list has apparently been reduced to a few Cleveland as a seemingly inevitable pairing love with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving is getting closer. ESPN.com 's Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst, who first reported this bit of news has more:
The Minnesota Timberwolves were engaged in trade negotiations Kevin Love with no serious team other than the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday, adding to the growing belief around the NBA that Love team LeBron James is inevitable, according to informed sources the situation.
After ESPN.com reported last week that the Cavaliers are the forerunners to acquire love in a trade co-headlining No. 1 overall draft choice Andrew Wiggins, sources this week described the Cavs as only team vying for love. Sources say that the Chicago Bulls have increasingly pessimistic about their chances of winning on the supply of Cleveland, while Golden State Warriors have remained reluctant to bend to their longstanding refusal to go Klay Thompson in a case for love.
Wiggins is not eligible to be treated until August 23, after signing his rookie contract last week, but many insiders league - some of which are gathered in Las Vegas for the U.S. team at camp training this week - began to describe Cleveland love to trade as a "when" transaction as opposed to "if".
...
The expectation remains that wolves emerged from this saga with no less than Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett and a future first-round pick of the Cavs in exchange for love before August is out.
ESPN.com reported last week that the Bulls had re-emerged as a serious contender for love, despite the fact they had a little more to offer business assets Minnesota before the NBA draft last month. But sources said this week that Chicago has mainly known for the Cavs, knowing he can not provide a player both potential superstar "Wiggins and his rookie contract favorable level.
...
Wolves have also signed veteran guard Mo Williams this week, making veterinary compatriot JJ Barea - who say sources Minnesota is committed to discharge through a love affair - no longer available. It is believed wolves hope to convince Cleveland to take Barea in the context of an exchange of love or find a third team to absorb the contract expiring Barea.
...
Warriors in theory could still give Cleveland to worry if you suddenly put Thompson on the table while the Cavs are waiting to become eligible Wiggins trade, but sources say Taylor prefers Featured packet Wiggins to a distance-Thompson led to love.
